This was a fantastically imaginative, spectacularly written, and breathtakingly engrossing sequel! I had such a difficult time putting this book down. I absolutely loved everything about it. Binti: Home by Nnedi Okorafor is the second novel in the Binti series. You can check out my review for the first instalment by clicking this bold, pinky link.
The character growth and the ways that Binti has blossomed as an individual, and the way she interacts with and deals with the pressures of returning home was so emotionally riveting. The self-doubt, guilt, frustration, along with the joy, relief, and warmth that she felt was deeply relatable and delightfully portrayed. She has a conversation with her sister that hit so close to my heart, resonating with a very similar chat I once had with my mother. Having my emotions stirred up in such a manner within these 165 pages was an amazing experience.
The intricate lacing of Nigerian lore and culture, the heritage of these people, along with the complexly and intellectually invigorating subject of mathematics and numbers, is unlike anything I’ve read before (aside from the first novel, Binti of course!). I’m so infatuated with how boldly and creatively different and original this series is. Blows my goddamn mind ever single time.
Hands-down, this series is one of the best of the science-fiction genre that I have ever, ever read. If you like science-fiction, especially INGENIOUS, LYRICAL, MESMERISING, and HIGHLY INDIVIDUALISTIC types of stories, you need to get off your ass and go check out this series ASAP!
5 owls outta 5!
**I kept this review short and simple, because I didn’t want to prattle on and on. I want y’all to just go and give this series a read because WOW, I cannot stress enough how MAGICAL it is!!**
