Shiver Me Timbers Pirate Book Tag!!

Ahoy me mateys! I’m sorry that it’s been so long since my last blog post. My health hasn’t been the best with the weather being so utterly cold! Also, bed-rest has me thoroughly focused on playing a shit ton of video games, which means less time for reading and blogging. But I woke up this morning feeling quite refreshed, so hopefully I can begin writing regular updates.

For today’s post, I created a brand-new book tag that’s inspired by some of my favourite video game music of all time. I shall share links to the song that inspired it as well as the remix version I’m addicted at the end of the post, in case if anyone’s interested in checking it out. Anyone is welcome to do the tag, just don’t forget to name me as creator since my buddy insomnia and I worked hard to bring this tag to you!

Have a delightful weekend everyone. Har har har!!

1.)  Arrrr! – I Concur. – Name a book with a character that you identified the most with.

It’s definitely Janna Yusuf from Saints and Misfits by S.K. Ali. This was the very first book in all of my 30 years of life where I could relate to and see myself so intimately in a book character. Her struggles, her conflict with faith and doing the right thing, her feelings of being trapped after being attacked–everything.

2.) Avast! – Knock it off. – Name a book with a character that drove you batty from irritation.

Iblis Ginjo from The Legends of Dune Trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. I understand his role in the series, but holy fucking shit, he is SO AGGRAVATING!! AAAHHH!

3.) Booty! – Loot. – Name your favourite special editions (or any specific editions) of books that you own.

I’ve two editions of my favourite SFF book of all time. Dune by Frank Herbert, that I’m most particularly proud of! The first the Barnes and Noble edition, which is leather bound and has intricate detail work of the planet Dune, Muad’Dib, as well as sand-worms on the back. The second is the minimalistic and shiny Penguin Galaxy edition that I received for my birthday from Sir Betrothed.

4.) Doubloon! – Cash Money. – Name a book that you unhauled, or got rid of, and later regretted doing so.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I only miss the first book as I strongly believe books two and three are complete trash and never should’ve been written to begin with. But the first one is a spectacular young adult contemporary romance that genuinely had most of the elements I enjoy from the genre, and I get an inkling to re-read it every now and again.

5.) Yo ho ho! – We’re Outta Rum. – Name a book that left you with on an unexpected cliffhanger, or had an ambiguous finale.

A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire Book Three) by George R.R. Martin. HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS THAT ENDING REVELATION OMG!!!

6.) SHIVER ME TIMBERS! – Holy Crap! – Name a book that had the most jaw-dropping plot twist you’ve read.

I’ve two for this one, well, technically three. Books one and three from the A Song of Ice and Fire Saga by George R..R. Martin, which are A Game of Thrones and A Storm of Swords, respectively. The twists that occurred in the books I completely didn’t see coming, at least not so fucking soon, and it blew my mind. Lastly, The Butlerian Jihad (Legends of Dune Book One) by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson had a major pivotal plot twist that I wasn’t expecting at all and my jaw fell so fucking hard when it happened.

That does it for the Shiver Me Timbers Pirate Book Tag! If you’re interested in doing the tag, please do so and drop me a comment down below so I can check out your awesome tags. If you don’t mind, please give me credit for the creation. Love and laughter to all. ☠️
