30-Day Book Challenge: Day 06 – Book That Makes You Sad

Day 06: A book that makes you sad.

Ah, another difficult one to answer. I feel like I have read a lot of sad books within the past couple of years, but I decided to go ahead and choose one from this year. It is the #OwnVoices Malaysian historical fiction novel, The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng. It is by far one of the most eloquent and evocative books that I have ever read, and quite heart-breaking too.

Thank you so much for visiting me today. Until next time, keep reading and keep otakuing. πŸ’š

  1. If they ever do one about a novel that made you depressed, try anything by Thomas Hardy or anything by William Golding.

    • Oh yeah, for sure with William Golding. I’ll have to look up Thomas Hardy, I don’t think I’ve heard of him before.
