30-Day Book Challenge: Day 08 – Most Over-Rated Book

Day 08: Your most over-rated book.

Oh boy, I can feel the groanings and dislikes headed my way for this one, but I have two choices here and one of them is super fucking hyped, and it is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. There is no fantasy or world-building in this series at all, and to see people gush about the fantasy completely boggles my fucking mind. Like… what are you seeing that I’m not seeing? Also… there’s a completely unnecessary love-square thing going on. No.

The second one is The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, which is simply out-dated and more boring than it is scary. But unlike the previous book, I can understand the hype for it given the era that it was published in. In present day, however, it barely holds up at all.

Thank you so much for visiting me today. Until next time, keep reading and keep otakuing. 💜

  1. I’m trying to think up of a book that for me did not live up to the hype..but right now my mind is drawing a blank. Oh well, it is early morning here, so there is that 😂 Haven’t read the book from Silence of the Lambs (but have seen the incredible film) and it might be that the book is so overrated because of the movie 😀
