30-Day Book Challenge: Day 29 – Book Everyone Hated But You Loved

Day 29: A Book everyone hated but you liked.

I Am a Cat by Natsume Sōseki. Everyone I know hated it because they felt it was super slow, tedious, had names for characters that didn’t make any sense. But that is the beauty of Sōseki: there was a point to everything, and the story itself is an examination of Japanese society during the time period, which includes exploration of Buddhist principles—all via the perspective of a stray kitty. I felt it was absolutely brilliant, but I was completely alone in my belief.
