Good morning and happy Friday, friends! Today, I’m going to be partaking in a fun book tag called The Entertainer Book Tag! One of my favourite BookTubers and now blogger, Bree over at Falling for Romance, tagged me to do this thing. Bree is a fabulous person who chats about romance, cosy mysteries, and historical fiction. She also does quite a lot of reading vlogs on her channel, so make sure you pay her a visit and show her some love.
The premise for this tag is rather simple. I get to answer all of the questions that Bree had in her post for people she nominated. Then when I’m done, I will tag some people and create a whole new set of questions for those folks to answer. It’s just a chill and laid-back way to get to know your fellow bloggers!
Bree’s Questions:
- Do you DNF books, and if so, how long do you give a book before putting it down?
I actually wrote a discussion post on the stigma of DNFing books, so this question made me think of that. Anyhoo, yes I do DNF books for various reasons if I feel I need to. I try to read about 100 pages or one-fourth of the book before choosing to DNF, unless the book just has problematic content that I can’t stand or heavy triggers that I can’t stomach.
- What are your top bookish buzz words?
Oh man, this was a difficult question to answer. Mostly because I didn’t know what buzz words were, haha. I had to Google it. I’ve narrowed it down to three (and honestly, I love this question so much, I think I’m going to do a whole post about it) and those are: psychological thriller, Victorian England, World War II, and sentient artificial intelligence. Wait… that’s four… oops.
- If you were given a gift card right now, to haul three books in the next 30 minutes, what three books would you haul?
Another difficult one! Hmmm… okay, I think I’ve got it. The three books I’d haul right away would be: Vegan Street Food: Foodie Travels from India to Indonesia by Jackie Kearney, Monstress Volume 3 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda, and Koko Uncaged by Kieran Shea.
- What is something you’re proud of?
I am really proud of myself for recovering from the horrible trauma of spending ten longs years in an abusive relationship. I didn’t give up—even though I really fucking wanted to—and kept on fighting to get my life and my freedom back. It was the most difficult things I had ever done, but I did it and in the wake of that I was able to achieve many of my dreams. (Sorry, I totally got sappy here.)
- Are you plot driven or character driven?
BOTH! I love them both very dearly and equally, but if I absolutely had to choose one then I think it would be the characters. Well developed characters can make a weak story feel so much stronger.
- Who is an author you wish more people would read?
Fuminori Nakamura, who is an author of intense Japanese psychological thrillers. His books are absolutely brilliant. They do tend to be twisted and fucked-up to an extreme on multiple occasions, but he is one amazing contributor to the genre.
Tagging:
Neko’s Questions:
- What is your favourite Autumn routine or practise? (Watching spooky films, reading cosy books, etc.)
- If I was new to your favourite genre (i.e.: historical fiction, science-fiction, romance, horror, etc.), what is one book you would recommend to me to get me started?
- What is one thing that brings you joy?
- If you could pick one hero from a book and change them into the villain, who would it be?
- What are some of your anti-buzzwords? For example, words that you see in a synopsis that will automatically turn you away from the book. (Taking this idea from Bree and changing it up a bit.)
- Who is someone that inspires you?
Alrighty, that does it for this tag! I wish you all a beautiful weekend ahead. My anxiety has been super fucking bad this week, so I will probably cave myself in my room and get tons of reading done, or I’ll watch a bunch of shows. Take care of yourselves, friends. Sending you much love. ♥
Thank you so much for the nomination. Other than one question, the rest seem easy… Thank you Nyan, will try to do them soon

I’m very character driven too. I can forgive more if the characters are great.

Indeed! With a recent book I read, Markswoman, if the characters were better the book would’ve been awesome.

#3, I’d go with some expensive huge box sets. That totally counts, right? Might be hard to haul out the door in 30 minutes, but go big or go home I’d say. For free books, who cares if I break my back! 🤣
