Ahoy, Mateys! Meet My Kooky Pirate Crew! [My Pirate Crew Blog Tag]

Happy Friday! I cannot believe the weekend has finally arrived. Even though the year has been flying by swiftly, this week felt like it was merely inching along. My weekend will be a lovely one as I shall get to spend some time with a cousin of mine who is delightfully inspiring and then my Sunday will be devoted to working on my book (and napping with kitties). I hope that your week has treated you kindly and that you shall get an opportunity to give yourself some love and care over the next couple days.

I am finally getting off my arse and tackling a few tags that I had been nominated for over the past few months (all the way back to November, oops). Truth be told, I placed them on my docket of things to do and completely forgot about them. I’d like to apologise to the friends who took time to tag me. I’m sorry this is so terribly late! I promise that I shall be better about getting these done as I absolutely love doing them!

The first tag I’m jumping into is the My Pirate Crew Blog Tag! I was tagged by three phenomenal humans to do this, of whom I’ve listed down below. If you have a spare moment, please do visit their blogs. They are fabulous content creators. ♥

This was quite challenging to do! There were so many options that instantly popped into my mind for nearly every category.  But I tried to go with the ones that came to me more naturally. I saw that a couple of people did strategist versus scientist, so in my crew I just listed them both because I couldn’t choose between them. I also added an animal companion because I totally couldn’t resist the temptation!

The Rules:

  • Display the My Pirate Crew and add “My Pirate Crew” as the tag.
  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and share a link to their blog(s).
  • Link back to the original post so Lynn Sheridan can check out everyone’s crews.
  • Select seven anime characters and give them a position on the crew. These are the positions you can fill: Warrior, Sniper, Chef, Doctor, Scientist, Navigator, Strategist, Mechanic, and Entertainer.
  • Nominate 5-10 bloggers to participate.
  • Set sail and rule the seas!

I tried to choose people who I felt would work well together, for the most part, and focused more on the light-hearted individuals rather than the serious ones. Although, I shall confess that I am considering doing a second version where the whole crew is packed with serious folks that kick serious arse.

Warrior – Balsa Yonsa (Moribito -Guardian of the Spirit)

Balsa is such a fierce and capable fighter who specialises in combat with a spear. One of the main reasons that I chose her was her unique weapon preference and the fact that she is loyal and compassionate. She was also one of the very first anime fighters I had ever fallen in love with.

Entertainer – Ed & Ein (Cowboy Bebop)

I have always pictured Ed and Ein as a duo, particularly during that mushroom episode (oh man, that was close to home in a hilarious way) and they always, always make me laugh with their shenanigans. Plus, if something ever happens to my chosen strategist out on the choppy seas, I know Ed would be a questionably eccentric yet brilliant replacement.

Sniper – Roberta (Black Lagoon)

Bad. Ass. As. All. Bleeding. Hell. Roberta, aside from Revy, swept my heart away with her brutal and unforgiving weaponry talents. She’s one hell of a shot no matter the gun, and she never hesitates, and she’s also fiercely loyal to the end. To this day, I don’t think there is another anime woman out there whom I fear and adore more (again, aside from Revy).

Chef – Kyōko Mogami (Skip Beat!)

Ah, another person who can substitute for other positions on the crew. Kyōko Mogami is hilarious and fucking nuts, but in a good way… mostly. Apart from her many talents, cooking is one of the best. She’s known in the series for creating traditional Japanese home cooking, which is quite rare in the large city of Tokyo. Since she has a natural skill of cooking with fresh ingredients, such as vegetables and seafood, I knew that seafaring cuisine would be right up her territory.

Doctor – Yoon (Yona of the Dawn)

Yoon is one of my favourite characters from Yona and the main reason for that is due to his “mummying” tendencies with the rest of the cast members. He’s always there to help everyone heal and recover from injuries, which includes creating politics and potions with whatever is on hand during their travels. He’s wonderfully gifted with learning about medicine and he’s a self-proclaimed pretty boy you can’t help but love.

Mechanic – Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

Winry is probably a popular mechanic choice for the tag, but I adore her versatility. There is virtually nothing that she can’t fix or figure out how to fix. Mechanical tinkering is almost always portrayed as a masculine skillset, so I think it’s fantastic that Winry breaks that sexist mould. Additionally, she’s caring, passionate, and has a wonderful heart.

Strategist – Sora & Shiro (No Game No Life)

These two are definitely a package duo. They are brilliant strategists and work extremely well together to tackle just about any challenge that comes their way. The only downside is that they’d be cooped up indoors in the cabin most of the time given their loathing for outside-social situations.

Scientist – Hange Zoë (Attack on Titan)

The perfect mad scientist/torturer/gigantic ball of energy. I love Hange so much. They’re my favourite Attack on Titan character after Levi (he didn’t make my Crew because I was afraid he’d kill everyone for being annoying). There probably isn’t another person out there who is more enthralled and excited and aroused with science than Hange.

Animal Companion – Morgana (Persona 5: The Animation)

Morgana IS SO CUTE!! I love, love, love Morgana! He’s so cool and sneaky and has a taste for treasure, which means that he’d make the perfect fit on board a pirate ship. Morgana also has an excellent sense of direction, so he’d make a wonderful navigator too!

Thanks again Karandi, Sam, and Merlin for the tag! I feel like many people have done this, so if I tag you and you’ve already created your crew, feel free to ignore.

What do you think of my kooky pirate crew? Would you want any of these bumpkins on board your ship?

  1. This is a fun tag! Thanks for tagging me. 😁 This may sound funny but my pirate crew would be all the straw hats from One Piece! The whole gang with Luffy as the captain hahaha.
