My Mammoth End-of-Year Fantasy & Science-Fiction Book Haul

Happy Saturday afternoon! It is a rainy and dreary day here and it’s totally beautiful! Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off this new year as I’m a diehard pluviophile. It’s the perfect weather for a short stroll with my brand-new Shinra umbrella (thank you Madame Gabs for my awesome holiday present) and then returning home to a cup of a cocoa and cuddles with kitties as I read a stack of books and manga. The only thing that would make it better, would be mint chocolate chip ice-cream (I love eating ice-cream when it’s rainy and cold outside).

As I processed and mentally wrapped-up 2020, I decided to treat myself to a giant stack of fantasy and science-fiction books that I hope to dig into over the next twelve months or so. It’s a gift to myself to celebrate surviving all of things that decided to compile on top of me last year. I never believed I would live to see January 2021. Yet here I am with Boss Man’s blessings and the love and support of my family and fabulous group of chums. I’m also celebrating the little moments that helped me make it through the toughest of days, whether it was watching a string of feel-good anime episodes, binging my most comforting TV shows (Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? and Stargate SG-1), going on drives in the middle of the night to clear my head, catching a ton of sharks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, finally getting into Fallout 4, completing a manuscript, making some new friends, or waking up to Shinobi laying in my arms (she’s not a cuddly kind of cat)—all of these things and more helped me make it. So, the tower of tomes that I bought for myself is my personal and small way of partying it up, introverted style, and also a way of telling myself that there are many more little moments and big moments coming in 2021 to look forward to. Another added bonus is that my hope is to write more adult fantasy novels this year, and the best way to master a genre is to read a shite ton of it.

Since I’ve got about twenty here, give or take, I’m just going to share the cover with the title and authors depicted clearly. There will be a bulleted list at the bottom for accessibility as well. That way if you see something interesting, you can look it up on whatever platform fits your fancy the best. ✌🏾 They aren’t in any particular order either.

  1. I am so looking forward to lots of reviews – and your first publication 😀 I’m very interested in the W. Michael Gear book. Is that the same fellow that used to write the prehistory Native American’s series with his wife Kathleen? Those were really good. Lots of intense drama in a very well researched setting.
