Hey-ooooooohhhh! I published a motherfucking book! This is the part where I lose the ability to breathe and can’t believe that I am legitimately able to call myself an Indie author, or better known by its loving nickname—nausea.
On February 1st, my debut book, 88 Keys: Poetry & Prose launched in paperback form (I forgot the 0 on the end of the date whilst setting it up, oops; yay, new author blunders) and a couple of days ago, on my late Bhaiya’s (brother) birthday, February 10th, the Kinde eBook version hit the digital shelves!! I am very excited (and nervous) to finally have this collection out in the world. It’s one that is supremely near and dear to my heart, one where I lay out all of my vulnerabilities in grief, love, heartbreak, and mental health.
The book is dedicated to the man who inspired the collection, my Bhaiya, and is named as such due to his incredibly innate talents with playing the piano. He is also the one that inspired my love of music, poetry, and literature (especially literature), in addition to being the dude who raised me with all the values and things that I’ve going on. When I dreamt of being an author, I had always promised myself that my first book would be for him and to finally have the opportunity to make that a reality is quite… marvellously indescribable.
I have shared a few poems from this collection on this blog, so if you want a bit of a preview or taste of what the collection entails, check out these posts listed below. The writing inspirations are taken from Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, and William Shakespeare as they are the poets that Bhaiya and I used to analyse and discuss the heck out of when we fell into our little literary debates and chit-chats. I don’t do a lot of flash poetry because it’s not really my cup o’ chai, so if you are a fan of the more traditionalist type poetic writings, I hope you shall enjoy 88 Keys: Poetry and Prose. There is a list of content warnings on the back cover!
The book is exclusively being sold on Amazon. Once again, it’s available in paperback and Kindle eBook formats. If you have Kindle Unlimited, you should be able to read it for free (I believe). If you can, please do purchase or copy, or if you know anyone who’d be interested in such a work of writing, then please pass it along to them and share it around! I would be humongously appreciative and full of gratitude.
I also want to take a moment and give a gargantuan ass shout-out to Jon Spencer! He was the awesome creative mind behind the book cover’s design. I gave him a very vague notion of what I wanted (because my brain isn’t very creative on a visual level) and he turned it into such a beautiful and perfectly fitting book cover! If you’re looking for any creatives to commission, please do check in with Jon Spencer!! His info is listed below. Thank you so much, JS!!! I can’t wait to to work with you again for the next one.
Anyhoo, that’s the big announcement for this fine, bright ass Monday morning! Thank you for your support, y’all. Not only with the book shenanigans, but also with my blogging and life things too. You’re so awesome and I appreciate each and every single one of you, even though my anxiety-ridden brain can’t express it all the time (yay BPD!).
Until the next one, keep reading, keep otakuing, and keep following your hopes and dreams. They are never ever a waste of time nor energy.
